What Is Mega Evolution?

Pokémon that achieve Mega Evolution can temporarily release a great power asleep within them, resulting in a strength that they cannot achieve in their normal Evolutions. Unlike regular Evolution, Mega Evolution is only triggered during battle. A Mega-Evolved Pokémon will return to its usual state after the battle ends, but it will never revert to its usual state during the battle itself. In addition, only one Pokémon per Trainer can Mega Evolve during a given battle. When Pokémon Mega Evolve, some experience more than an increase in their stats. They may experience changes to their types or Abilities, creating an opportunity to change your fortune in battle!

The Mysteries of Mega Evolution!

In the past, the number of times a Pokémon could evolve was limited for each Pokémon, but we now know that a smaller number of Pokémon can exceed this limit and evolve even further through a phenomenon called Mega Evolution. However, Mega Evolution can only occur with certain Pokémon and after fulfilling certain conditions. There are still many mysteries remaining about its origins and manifestations.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire tell a grand tale that draws ever closer to the heart of the secrets behind Mega Evolution, said to be the greatest mystery of the Pokémon world!

Conditions Needed for Mega Evolution

1. The Trainer’s Key Stone, worn on his or her person, must resonate with a Mega Stone held by the Pokémon.

2. There must be a strong bond between the Trainer and the Pokémon.

A Key Stone is an item that a Trainer wears on his or her person. It can be set in an accessory, such as a bracelet, but different Trainers have found many different ways to carry their Key Stones.

A Mega Stone is an item that a Pokémon must hold. There are Mega Stones for every Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, and each of these special stones has its own name.

There have been 28 Mega Stones discovered to date, but it is said that there are still more Mega Stones to be discovered in the Hoenn region.
